All four Republican candidates for insurance commissioner — Chris Merideth, Marty Quinn, Greta Shuler and Bob Sullivan — have agreed to participate in a public debate hosted by NonDoc and Griffin Media at 5:45 p.m. Monday, June 8. The Oklahoma Association of REALTORS is the presenting sponsor of the debate, which is set to be held at the Tower Theatre, 425 N.W. 23rd St. in Oklahoma City.
Titled Regulate it, the debate will be live-streamed on the News 9 Facebook and YouTube pages, the News on 6 Facebook and YouTube pages, as well as NonDoc’s Facebook page.
Co-moderated by Tres Savage of NonDoc and Haley Hetrick of News 9, the debate will feature questions written and asked by professional journalists. The Frontier will lead fact checking efforts for the debate.

Insurance commissioner race heats up
The winner of the June 16 Republican primary for insurance commissioner will face Democratic candidate Craig MacIntyre — a former educator and insurance industry professional — in the November general election.
Oklahoma’s insurance commissioner is a key regulatory position overseeing insurance operators in the state. Commissioners serve four-year terms and earn about $150,000 per year.
Chris Merideth has spent more than 25 years working in insurance as a policy analyst and in operations, including in an agency setting, according to his website. He currently serves on multiple industry, regulatory and policy boards across the country.
Marty Quinn is a small business owner and insurance professional who served 12 years in the Oklahoma Legislature representing Senate District 2.
Greta Shuler has worked as an insurance agent and has also served on the Shawnee City Council.
Bob Sullivan is a fourth-generation Oklahoman and a certified risk assessment manager from Tulsa.
NonDoc is also partnering with other media outlets to host a Republican attorney general primary debate May 18 in Oklahoma City and a GOP gubernatorial debate in Lawton on May 28. On June 2 and 3, NonDoc and Griffin Media will co-host GOP and Democratic debates for the state superintendent of education on successive nights in Norman.
