Like a bubbling fryer full of vegetable oil, things are heating up in the Republican primary runoff for Oklahoma’s gubernatorial race.
During a debate this past week hosted by Griffin Media, both of the remaining candidates traded barbs, with each boasting about their stamina and how they have what it takes to see a long campaign through to the end.
But it wasn’t all gravy for Gentner Drummond and Mike Mazzei. Both men looked rather exhausted for a Monday night, and more than a few observers walked away wishing they had different options.
As the GOP race reaches its final two weeks, let’s be real: What would make campaigning more relatable to the rest of American life? A true test of stamina would be a hotdog eating contest. Or, better yet, how about trying to consume the entire state meal?
For the next televised debate, let’s head down to Kendall’s Restaurant in Noble and plop a couple of chicken-fried steaks in front of these guys. I think we’ll know pretty quickly who has what it takes.
